Surne Bilbao Basket has quickly reacted to the departure of Melwin Pantzar and is moving swiftly in the market to reconfigure its game direction for the upcoming season. The Basque club is working on several incorporations with the goal of maintaining competitiveness and continuing its sports project. One of them is already official: Surne Bilbao Basket has signed Adam Somogyi as its first reinforcement for the 2026/27 season. The 25-year-old Hungarian point guard arrives from Szolnoki Olaj after a standout campaign in the FIBA Basketball Champions League, where he averaged 13.9 points, 8.3 assists and 4.6 rebounds per game, leading the league in assists. Somogyi, who has signed a contract until 2028, will occupy the position left by Melwin Pantzar and bring game direction and creative ability. In the Hungarian league, he even increased his numbers to 9.8 assists per game, including a personal record of 20 in a final. Adam Somogyi already knows what it's like to compete in ACB, where he has had two stints that have allowed him to adapt to Spanish basketball. In the 2023/24 season, he played 26 games with MoraBanc Andorra, while later also gaining experience with Río Breogán. From the sports management of Surne Bilbao Basket, they highlight that he can bring mainly game vision, leadership and pick and roll reading skills both in ACB and in Europe. According to Rafa Pueyo, he is a point guard with great passing ability, but also with resources to score in penetration and shooting, in addition to having improved his outside shooting. Another move that Surne Bilbao Basket is handling is the possible arrival of Dan Duscak, a 23-year-old Slovenian point guard from Oviedo in First FEB. The player has signed a solid season with 7 points, 2.3 rebounds and 3.4 assists in 21 minutes per game. The club's idea would be to incorporate him as the third point guard in the rotation, thus completing a key position after Melwin Pantzar's departure and betting again on young talent with projection.
